In LaPorte, LaPorte, IN on 9 Jan 1909, Amanda Wiltfong filed chargesagainst her brother, Monroe Charles Wiltfong for "unlawfully feloniouslyand forceably in a rude, insolent and angry manner, touch, push, andstrike one, Amanda Wiltfong, who was then and there the sister of saidMonroe Wiltfong, with the intent then and there and thereby her the saidAmanda Wiltfong feloniously and incestuously to have sexual intercousewith the said Amanda Wiltfong, the said Monroe Wiltfong then and therebeing over the age of sixteen years, and having knowlege of hisrelationship to said Amanda Wiltfong, and knowing that she, the AmandaWiltfong, was his, the said Monroe Wiltfong's sister." Amanda signed theaffidavit on 12 Feb 1909. Ralph N. Smith was the Proscuting Attorney forthe 32nd Judicial Circuit.

On 12 Sep 1927 Amanda filed for a restraining order against Edward whichwas granted. "That the defendant is a man of ungovernable temper and isthreatening to and will unless enjoined by this Court, enter the premiseswhere plaintiff is living and do her great bodily injury, and take andcarry every property of this plaintiff now in her possession, andotherwise disturb her and make it unsafefor her to occup these premisesduring the pendancy of this action. On 20 Sep 1927 she also filed fordivorce on the grounds of inhuman and cruel treatment. She stated thatthe couple separated on 8 Sep 1927. "Plaintiff further alleges and saysthat defendant during their married life has on numerous occasions beenguilty of cruel and inhuman treatment of this plaintiff in this: That onseveral occasions he has struck, beat, and bruised this plaintiff andcalled her vile and opprobrious names in the presence of third personsand without cause has on several occasions accused her of improperrelatons with other men. That the defendant has an ungovernable temperand makes no effort to control the same in his actions and attitudetowards the plaintiff, and in their home and on the streets of LaPorteand in other places has on several occasions cursed this plaintiff,struck and beat her and made false charges against her chastity in thepresence of her son and other persons. Plaintiff further alleges thatthe defendant has not made reasonable provision for her support duringmost of the period of their married life and for more than two years lastpast either for herself or her said child. That for more than two yearslast past plaintiff has been compelled to support herself and her childby purchasing vegetables from neighbors and peddling them in the CityofLaPorte and elsewhere, by raising poultry, and doing such other work aswould produce money with which to purchase clothing, school books, andother necessities in life for herself and said son." Slater, LaPorte; two grandchildren; twogreat-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Alice Cook, LaPorte, and Mrs.Frank Wright, New Carlisle. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday atthe Otto E. Giese Funeral home with the Rev. Arthur E. Powellofficiating. Burial will be in New Carlisle cemetery. Friends may call atthe funeral home from 3 pm tomorrow and until time of services. Mary E. Wiltfong recalls going to visit her aunt Manda and uncle Ed. Shesays they were very nice and got along well. Manda would have dinner onthe table when Ed came in from work.
